2. Custom furniture design, through screen-sharing.

While we are creating your custom furniture in 3D, you are going to see how it’s going to look like and you get accurate measurements.

If something doesn’t look right in the 3D model, we can make changes right then and there. We can play with endless variations and possibilities with your design ideas.

You will need to install TeamViewer, that is a popular software used for Internet-based screen sharing and support. TeamViewer software can connect to any PC so you can see our screen as if you were sitting right in front of it.

3. All files in your favorite could service.

What’s great about working with us is that all your files are saved in the cloud. Save them in your Dropbox or Google Drive and access them everywhere you go that has internet connection.

You will never have to carry around with you design draft papers, sketchbooks, data sheets or spec sheets. You can always have them printed from the files you have in the cloud. This way, they will never be lost or damaged.

Since all your files are in digital form, you can easily go back and forward through the different revisions in your custom furniture design. They are automatically saved for you. If you decide to follow a design idea and didn’t like it in the end, simply go back to a previous revision and start over. All it takes is a few clicks of the mouse. Every change that you make in your design process are saved in digital format.

We will design your custom furniture using SketchUp

SketchUp is 3D modeling software that’s used by most architects, interior designers, engineers and millwork shops all around the world. SketchUp is a industry standard design software, that’s easy to learn & fun to use.

From hand-sketch

Most of the clients that we work with come to us with a hand-sketch of their design concept. Sometimes the client has ideas that are spread out over different sketches and we help them arrive at how they want the end-product to look like.

Through 3D design

We then create a basic prototype in 3D using SketchUp. When you see your ideas made manifest in 3D, you can look into modifying its features. Tell us what you want added or removed, we’ll have all modifications merged together or discarded.

Pricing and material estimating

As part of our custom furniture design service, we will provide material nesting and optimization, as well as easy-to-read cost estimates.

We have been successfully designing custom furniture with Sketchup, for more than 10 years. SketchUp makes it easy for you and your fabricator to explore the project in 3D space. This makes it easy for you to explore design possibilities and see how they are going to look like or cost.

You can then use these custom furniture 3D models with your prospective millwork shop or contractor when pricing your project. Your digital, project files can be saved from Sketchup in a most popular file formats, that everyone involved in the project can use.

Material nesting & optimizing

Material nesting and optimization refers to the process of laying out cutting patterns to minimize raw material waste. Examples include manufacturing parts from flat raw material such as wood or sheet metal.

The 3D model we’ll create for you will include material nesting. This way, we can give you a detailed estimate of costs that you can use when looking for a millwork shop or contractor to work with.
